CBS renews 15 shows, which ones didn't make the cut?

This time of year always makes fans crazy.

It’s the will it or won’t it question that is firmly entrenched in their minds that plagues their thoughts – and sometimes even fills them with dread.

What is that question you ask? It’s whether or not their favorite show is going to warrant another season on the airwaves.

On Wednesday, CBS announced the pickup of 15 of their shows. As the top-rated network, this is probably welcome news to a lot of fans who have been holding their collective breath.

So what CBS shows are currently safe? 2 Broke Girls, The Amazing Race, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, CSI, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-0, The Mentalist, Mike & Molly, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest and Undercover Boss. They join The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Survivor – which had already been picked up for additional seasons.

In the case of CSI, NCIS and Criminal Minds, I’m personally on the fence about whether or not the move was a smart one – and Criminal Minds is one of my favorite shows. I just think all of them are a little long in the tooth and they’re more stagnant than fresh these days. But that’s only my opinion, of course. I know there are a lot of fans out there who will disagree.

Network officials and show runners are also in negotiations about the fate of Two and  Half Men – which enjoyed surprising strong ratings despite losing star Charlie Sheen to a much publicized feud. No one knows which way the show is leaning, but I would wager it’s going to somehow get one final season. It’s essentially the show that wouldn’t die.

That leaves two CSI franchises (NY and Miami respectively), Unforgettable, A Gifted Man, Rob, Rules of Engagement and NYC 22 (which hasn’t even premiered yet) with uncertain fates. I’m guessing both CSI franchises are goners – if one does survive it will be Miami – and Rob and A Gifted Man are probably not going to make the final cut either.

I’m not sure which way CBS will go on Unforgettable – which has been largely, well, forgettable all season – and the always abused Rules of Engagement.

Here’s a list of where all your television shows – at least on the big five networks -- stand right now:
