This week in entertainment: The Avengers hits Blu-Ray

There’s a lot going on in the entertainment world this week – but the biggest thing is obviously the release of Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ on Blu-Ray and DVD Tuesday.

The film was the biggest movie hit of the summer. Bringing together Robert Downey Jr.’s Ironman, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor – among others -- ‘The Avengers’ was clearly not only the best super hero movie of the summer – but possibly in years.

The Blu-Ray features a couple of featurettes, deleted scenes, and a gag reel.

While ‘The Avengers’ is clearly the best movie hitting stores on Tuesday, there are a number of television sets coming out. The latest – and in some case final – seasons of ‘CSI,’ ‘CSI: Miami,’ ‘CSI: New York,’ ‘Desperate Housewives,’ ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘Law & Order: SVU’ will also be avaible.

In the music world, Green Day’s ‘Uno’ album hits with 12 new songs. This is the first of a three-album series which culminates with the January release of ‘Tres.’

Trendy Mumford & Sons follows up their 2010 offering with ‘Babel,’ a 15-song compilation for the deluxe album and a 12-song CD for their regular album.

Finally, No Doubt unveils their reunion album ‘Push and Shove,’ featuring 11 new songs.

Many of your favorite television shows are returning this week as well.

On Monday, CBS welcomes back ‘2 Broke Girls,’ ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ ‘Mike and Molly’ and ‘Hawaii Five-0.’ ABC also debuts the new season of ‘Castle.

On Tuesday, CBS welcomes back ‘NCIS’ and ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ before debuting ‘Vegas.’ ABC also unveils what is expected to be the final season of ‘The Practice’ and FOX debuts new episodes of ‘New Girl.’

On Wednesday, CBS continues their weeklong rollout with new episodes of ‘CSI’ and ‘Criminal Minds.’ The ABC comedy block of ‘Modern Family’ and ‘The Middle’ also returns, as does NBC’s ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.’

On Thursday, ABC debuts ‘Last Resort’ before returning episodes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Scandal.’ CBS moves ‘Two and a Half Men,’ returns ‘Person of Interest’ and ‘Big Bang Theory’ and debuts ‘Elementary.’

Finally, on Friday, CBS revs up for another season of ‘Blue Bloods’ and FOX debuts the first episode of the final season of ‘Fringe.’

It’s also a big week for video games, with both ‘World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria’ and ‘Dead or Alive 5’ debuting on Tuesday.

Finally, new movies opening this week include the time travel mind-bender ‘Looper,’ starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Oscar-bait ‘Won’t Back Down’ with Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal and the kid-friendly ‘Hotel Transylvania.’

What do you think? What are you most looking forward to this week?
